John E. VanDerburgh, Jr., age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at Riddle Hospital in Media, PA, with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
John was born in Dublin, GA, the son of the late John E. and Inez (Williams) VanDerburgh, Sr., attended Georgia Tech and enjoyed a long and successful career as an architect.

He was a meticulous and thorough planner for everything he did; his delightful, teasing sense of humor was always appreciated. He loved watching college football, especially his Georgia Tech Yellowjackets, and barbequing on the back porch for family and friends.
John especially cherished the time he spent with his wife Ellen no matter what they were doing and was a loving father to his children and family.
John is survived by his wife, Ellen (Busch) VanDerburgh; his children, John VanDerburgh, III (Renee), Karl VanDerburgh (Lora); Debbie VanVeldhuizen (Jay); and Tina Baskette (David); his step-children, Lynn Daniels, Karen Loucks (Bill); his grandchildren, Jane Chandler, John VanDerburgh IV, Ashlyn VanDerburgh, Josh VanVeldhuizen, Kristina Bartholomew, Jeff and Tom Daniels, and Andrew and Ryan Loucks; and his great-grandchildren, William and Vivien VanVeldhuizen, and Bronson Bartholomew.
