John Pietruczenia, age 83, of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
He was born in Warsaw, Poland, son of the late Viktor and Lidia (Dziagiel) Pietruczenia. His family immigrated to the US in 1950, and settled in Wilmington, DE.
John was a graduate of Wilmington High School; and served honorably in the US Army from 1962-1965, mostly stationed in France.
He worked for several years as a security officer for Widener University Law School before his retirement. John enjoyed fishing and crabbing; and had a special place in his heart for his constant companions, his dogs.
He is survived by his siblings, Joseph (Sandra) of Newark, DE, Janina of Townsend, DE, and Anna Hamilton (Leo) of Hockessin, DE; as well as several nieces, nephews, and members of his extended family.
A committal service with military honors will be held in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701 on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 11am.
