John Andrew Paraskiewicz

John Andrew Paraskiewicz, lovingly known as "Sonny," was a man whose life was defined by devotion—to his family, his work, and the great outdoors. Preceded in life by his beloved wife, Mary Ann (Kutish) Paraskiewicz, Sonny leaves behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and generosity.

He was a proud father to John C. Paraskiewicz "Chris" and Brian Paraskiewicz, and a cherished father-in-law to Sheryl Cassidy and Jeannie Scout. His love extended deeply to his grandchildren: Brian, JC (Dolly), Jacob, and Katey Paraskiewicz, Sarah and Courtney; and his great-granddaughter, Lyla Paraskiewicz. He was also preceded by his grandson, Benjamin Paraskiewicz, whose memory remains close to the family's heart.

Sonny retired from DuPont as a respected supervisor, having started his career at Hessler, a sign company. In addition, Sonny retired from the Delaware Air National Guard.  Beyond his professional life, he was an avid hunter and conservationist, deeply involved with the NRA, the West End Rod and Gun Club, and the Delaware Wildlife Federation. His passion for nature was matched only by his love for spontaneous travel adventures with Mary Ann, embracing every opportunity to explore and enjoy life.

He was a man who always wore a smile, who made sure everyone around him felt cared for and valued. Whether it was a weekend trip, a quiet moment outdoors, or a family gathering, Sonny brought joy, laughter, and a sense of calm.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his spirit continues to inspire through the stories, memories, and love he shared so freely.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held in All Saints Cemetery.
