John T. Fahey

John Thomas Fahey embarked on his last great adventure on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.

He was born in Huntington Park, CA on Thursday, February 7, 1946, the only child of the late John Michael Fahey and Martha Fahey, née McKeown.

John was the proud father of three daughters—Donna Fahey, Monica Stanoch, and Carol Fahey. He considered his greatest achievement in life to be raising his daughters in Wilmington, Delaware, with their mother, Valerie Regenauer. He was also the cherished Grandad to four wonderful grandsons: Luke Stanoch, Gregory Stanoch, Wilder Briggs, and Clive Briggs.

John attended St. Francis High School in Watsonville, CA, Salesianum High School, and University of Delaware.  

John served his country in the United States Army for eleven years. He was stationed in Fort Lee, VA; Fort Ord, CA; Okinawa, Japan; Uijeongbu, South Korea; Fort Drum, NY; and Fort Bragg, NC. He retired in 1980 as a Captain, Quartermaster. He moved around the country pursuing his career in food service before finally settling in Manchester, NH, where he happily lived and worked for nineteen years. John loved working in restaurants, training his co-workers, and meeting new people every day. When he wasn’t hard at work, he spent his time traveling, usually by train, or planning his next adventure.

Funeral services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to honor John’s legacy by taking a ride on a train and chatting with the strangers you meet along the way.
