John P. Dobies, 86, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Born in Wilmington on November 10, 1936 and raised in St. Hedwig Parish, he was the son of the late John and Anne (Grzybowski) Dobies.
John was a graduate of Wilmington High School, class of 1954, and proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was employed with the Bank of Delaware for more than 25 years. In his post retirement, John was employed as a driver with Infinity of Newark. John was an avid Phillies baseball fan and enjoyed trying his luck at the slots at both Delaware Park and Dover Downs. He also was an electronics enthusiast.
John is survived by his devoted partner in life of 45 years, Mary Ann Bialorucki; his children, Mike Dobies (Robin), Rick Dobies (Trish), Cathy Dobies, Jeff Dobies, Karen Robinson (Steve) and Laurie Bialorucki (Rob); his grandchildren, Nick Dobies (Jessica), Justin Dobies (Suzanne), Kristin Padilla (Osmar), Jennifer Dobies (Sam), Sean Dobies (Bridgette), Ashley Garber, Katie Duffy (McKayla), Kevin Garber, Stephen Bialorucki (Meg) and Matt Roberts (Annie); his great grandchildren, Isabella, Jamie, Prescott and Nolan.
Sadly, John was predeceased by two granddaughters, Michelle Dobies and Rachel Roberts.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, March 20 from 9:00 – 10:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington at 11:00AM, immediately followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
