Joanne Kracker Umbrecht

Joanne K. Umbrecht, 87, of Wilmington, DE, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. After a brave 2 ½-year battle with lung cancer, she found peace. Throughout her journey, Joanne embodied strength, kindness, and grace.

Joanne was a devoted wife to her late husband, Donald B. Umbrecht, now reunited with him in eternal rest. She was a beloved mother to her two sons, Timothy Keith and his wife, Stacie and Gregory Kracker and his wife, Sandra. Her pride and joy were her five grandchildren: Zachary August, Sarah Elizabeth, Ashleigh Taylor, Abigayle Reese, and Alyssa Renee, whom she adored deeply.

Joanne’s passions included traveling, bowling, and square dancing. She was an enthusiastic supporter of her sons' football and wrestling and later cheered on her grandchildren in their sporting endeavors. Her love of family also extended to card games and other fun pastimes. Joanne was known for her deep Catholic faith and her years of teaching at various elementary schools.

She had a vibrant sense of style, often sporting purple clothing with a touch of glitter. Joanne’s creativity was evident in her quilts, crocheted blankets, and other crafts, which she lovingly made for those she cared about.

Joanne will be remembered for the love, laughter, and joy she shared with everyone she met. Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM, on February 18, 2025, at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in Wilmington, DE. Rest in peace, dear mother and grandmother.
