Joann M. Wimble, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Patton, Pennsylvania on October 5, 1932, to the late Charles Link and Gertude Link. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Wimble, Sr.; and her daughter, Lacinda Wimble-Alexander. Joann was one of nine children who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving children: Virginia Gutowski (Tony), Suzanne Wimble-Judge (John), Diana Winkelman (Bill), and Robert A. Wimble, Jr. (Nancy). She was the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who were truly her heart, her joy, and her legacy. She enjoyed the company of her dear dog, Riley. Joann was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Her presence left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
Joann was a cherished member of St. Catherine of Siena Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the beach, shopping and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Services have been entrusted to Doherty Funeral Home and her family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Monday, July 21, 2025 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where visitation will begin at 10am and a Mass of Christian Burial to commence at 11am. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware at 1pm. A luncheon and time for sharing will immediately follow.
