Jo Ann Cook

Jo Ann Cook, age 76, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, surrounded by love.

Born with a determined spirit and a warm heart, Jo Ann earned her Bachelor’s degree from Wilmington University, balancing her studies with life’s many responsibilities — including taking night classes to achieve her goals. She went on to build a fulfilling career with ICI, where she served as a business manager and retired after 30 years of dedicated service.

Jo Ann shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, William I. “Bill” Cook. Their bond was a true testament to love and partnership, built on mutual respect and years of cherished memories. Jo Ann was also a loving and devoted mother to her son, Billy. Together, they all enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach — places where Jo Ann found peace and joy.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, William I. Cook Jr.; her mother, Gertrude Todd; and her brothers, Fred and Michael Atkinson. Though deeply missed, her memory lives on through her loving husband, Bill, and their faithful puppy, Rosie, who brought her daily comfort and companionship.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE 19720.
