Janette Margaret Saxton (née Cook), age 83, of Newark, Delaware, gained her angel wings on Saturday, September 13th, 2025 surrounded by all those that loved her.
She was born on January 31st, 1942 in Avondale, Pennsylvania to Wintzer R. and Margaret Cook (née Vanore). Janette graduated from Avon Grove High School and worked at the DuPont Country Club before moving onto the DuPont Experimental Station, from where she retired after more than two decades of service.
Janette enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as volunteering at her church.
Janette was preceded in death by her parents, Wintzer and Margaret Cook; her sister, Patricia Lyons; and her beloved husband of 53 years, David C. Saxton.
Janette is survived by her son, Daniel Saxton Sr.; bonus daughter, Lisa Saxton; grandson, Daniel Saxton Jr. (Danielle Cobb); granddaughter Amber Matthews (Kiyona Matthews); great-grandsons, Jade David Saxton and Luca West; and her great-grand dog, Albert Einstein.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, September 22nd. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM with service at 11:00AM. Burial will immediately follow at Longwood Cemetery, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
