James Otis Farmer

James Otis Farmer, age 90, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at home on Friday, September 4, 2020.

Jim was born in Nashville, TN. He served in the US Air Force from 1946-1948. He graduated from James H. Groves High School.

Jim worked for the Du Pont Company Chestnut Run Textile Fibers Laboratory for 27 ½ years, retiring in 1985. He was a Senior Technical Assistant and Relief Supervisor. He taught a textile technology course and served as the tour guide for a “Microcosm of the Textile Industry”. He also received awards from Du Pont for several patents and numerous suggestions.

Jim was a member of St. John the Beloved Church. He served as past Vice-President and President of the leisure group for five years, where he often coordinated bus trips.

He is survived by his siblings, Robert, and Dollie; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lela Farmer; siblings, Glen, Marvin, and Doris; and his beloved wife, Jennie (Casini) Farmer.

Funeral services for Jim will be held privately with his family.
