James R. DeMonic, Jr. (“Jim”) passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Born in Spangler, Pennsylvania, Jim was the son of James and Dorothy DeMonic. He grew up in Newark, Delaware, graduating from John Dickinson High School before moving to New York, and eventually settling in northern New Jersey with his beloved wife, Betty, whom he adored and shared 42 wonderful years of marriage. Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife only weeks earlier.
Jim dedicated his life to teaching and mentoring young adults as a voice instructor at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. He was deeply loved and respected by students and colleagues alike for his encouragement, compassion, and unwavering support. In addition to his work at the Academy, Jim often assisted his wife, also a cherished educator, at Franklin High School in New Jersey. His kindness, warmth, and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family and many friends, but they take comfort in knowing he is now at peace, reunited with his beloved wife.
He is survived by his sisters, Corinna (Wayne) of Newark and Gretchen of Bear; and by his adored nieces, Alexandra and Amanda of Wilmington.
Services will be held privately in Delaware.
