John “Jack” Burton Shaw, Jr., age 83, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, with his family by his side.
He was born in Wilmington, son of the late John and Phoebe (Fisher) Shaw; was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School; and enjoyed a 40-year career in various positions for Ametek/Haveg, a chemical production company, retiring in 2003. Upon his retirement, Jack founded a small business, “Uncle Jack’s Delights”, specializing in Amish hex signs and wrought iron creations and décor.
Jack enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, whether on camping trips across the country, or spending summers in Cape May, NJ. He will be remembered for his jovial nature and fun-loving spirit.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie (Ayers) Shaw; his daughters, Ann Marie Cochrane, and Rebecca Otto (Tommy); his grandchildren, Abby Cochrane, and Vance and Autumn Otto; as well as several members of his extended family.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 1700 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19804, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am.
