Jack Anthony Birch, age 47, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
He was born in Wilmington and was a proud graduate of St. Mark’s High School and Wilmington University. Jack worked for several financial institutions in various risk and compliance management roles, including MBNA where he met his wife, Danna.
Jack was many things to many people: husband, father, son, brother, colleague, coach and friend. He was as reliable and loyal as they come, and the “go-to guy” to provide advice and support for any question or task at hand. To know Jack was to love him and he loved you right back. His smile could light the room, his laugh was contagious, and his hugs felt like home.
Jack was a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He enjoyed passing along his sports expertise to younger players while coaching baseball and softball at St. John the Beloved, St. Mark’s, Midway and Piedmont Little Leagues. He was proud to coach his son and daughter’s baseball and softball teams while watching them grow and learn.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Danna (Whitmoyer) Birch; their children, Kayla and Logan; his parents, Jack and Beverly (Dellose) Birch; his sisters, Kristin White (Bill) and Karen Klemaszewski (Michael); his nephews and niece, Nicolas and Travis White, and Gillian and Evan Klemaszewski; as well as members of his large extended family; countless friends that are considered family and even more acquaintances that were friends. Jack will be missed dearly by all.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 6th, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00pm at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. An additional visitation will be held at the church the following day, Tuesday, February 7th, from 10:00am – 11:00am with a Mass of Christian Burial commencing at 11:00am. Interment will be held in All Saints Cemetery.
