Hubert R. Reeves, affectionately known as Buzz, previously of Aston, Pennsylvania and most recently of Hockessin, Delaware passed away unexpectedly at the age of 85 on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 surrounded by loving family. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 22, 1938, he was the son of the late Raymond and Frances (DeFusco) Reeves.
Buzz was a graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia and served in the Army Reserves, where he was a competition pistol shooter. His career began with Penntube Plastics and moved onto Renewal Services before becoming employed as the Director of Auxiliary Services with the Penn-Delco School District, having retired in 2000 after 14 years of service.
Buzz was a Philadelphia sports enthusiast, routing for his Sixers, Phillies, Eagles and Flyers. He was a member of the Delaware County Field and Stream Club where he enjoyed target shooting. He also enjoyed carpentry and was a talented woodworker. An RV enthusiast, Buzz enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his wife Pat during his retirement years. He was an auto racing fan and enjoyed fishing. His greatest joy was his family, most especially his beloved grandchildren and adored great granddaughter.
Buzz will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 64 years, Miriam “Pat” (Edwards) Reeves; his children, Kathy Hidalgo and husband, Rod, Stephen Reeves and wife, Brenda; his grandchildren, Courtney Hidalgo, Rick Hidalgo, Regan Hidalgo, Brianna (Reeves) Ramos and husband, Denimax, Ciara Reeves and Gabriella Reeves and his great granddaughter, Annabella Murray. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Jones and husband, Clarke.
In addition to his parents, Buzz was predeceased by his sister, Susan Patterson.
Buzz was admired for his dedication to his wife. He truly treasured their relationship. He was also known for his patience, kindness and his infectious smile and laughter.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington on Tuesday, April 4 from 11:00AM – 12:15PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30PM, immediately followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
