Granville "Grant" E. Sweeny Jr.

Granville “Grant” E. Sweeny Jr., 86 of Wilmington, DE, passed from this life on April 22, 2023. He was born, March 21, 1937 to parents, Granville (Sr.) and Margaret Sweeny.

Grant served in the Army-Special Forces in the Korean War. After which he was a Medical Technologist for Medlab, Inc. until 1998. His last position was with Siemens Healthcare as a Sr. Technical Consultant/Field Service Engineer before retiring in 2012. He liked spending time in his wood shop, fixing old cars or fixing anything that needed to be fixed, being with his grandchildren and family, and going to the beach.

Grant is survived by his wife of 29 years, Susan M. Sweeny; his daughter Darlene Ferdig (Steve); his step children, John R. Humphrey (Johanna), and Lauren M. Welling (Brandon); and his grandchildren, Ansel, Ethan, Landon, and Cameron. Grant also leaves behind two of his brothers; Joe Britz (Gail), and Lenny Britz. He is predeceased by his parents, and three siblings; Charlotte, David, and Brehon.

Services for Grant will be held beginning Sunday, April 30, 2023 with a public viewing from 2:00 – 4:00 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd, Wilmington DE 19808.  A Funeral Mass will be held, Monday, May 1, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808.
