Glenn Joseph Brown, a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in Newark, Delaware, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on February 12, 1960, in Sacramento, California and raised in Media, Pennsylvania, Glenn brought an abundance of joy and laughter into the lives of those around him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Donald J. Brown and Barbara Glenn Brown, who instilled in him the values of love and family that he carried throughout his life. Glenn is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Barbara (Ryan) Brown; and their two loving children, Sean Ryan Brown and Mary Casey Brown. He was an adored brother to Constance (Brown) Gower – married to Charles – and Sandra (Brown) Moore. His role as an uncle was one he was deeply proud of, leaving behind many nieces and nephews, who will fondly remember their fun-loving uncle. Glenn’s dedication to his family was truly unwavering and unmatched.
Glenn studied computer science at Drexel University and enjoyed a career as a systems programmer. He was most recently employed at Citibank, where he was respected for his expertise and dedication for over 20 years. His colleagues remember him as a friendly and supportive presence, always ready to lend a hand or share a light-hearted joke to brighten the day. Glenn was not only committed to his profession, but also to his faith, living as a devout Catholic who practiced love and understanding in every aspect of his life.
He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. Glenn was an avid car enthusiast and videogamer, and shared these passions with friends and family. Many memories were created watching the Phillies on TV or cheering them on at the ballpark with his children. He spent time with his children as much as he could, even coaching them in baseball, basketball, and soccer when they were younger. Summers were spent at Ocean City, New Jersey, where he enjoyed lots of family time, sunshine, and sweet treats. In addition, he found pure happiness in his daily walks with his beloved dogs.
Glenn’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. He had an extraordinary ability to make anyone feel welcome. His absence will be felt profoundly, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may visit beginning at 9:30am. A private interment at All Saints Cemetery will be held at a later date.
