George H. Brittingham

George Brittingham, age 90, formerly of Wilmington, and recently of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2021. 

He was born in Wilmington, son of the late Howell and Helen (Hall) Brittingham.  George graduated from Conrad High School. George served honorably in the US Navy and upon his discharge, enjoyed a long and successful career as an accountant. 

In addition to spending time with his family, George enjoyed bowling, thoroughbred horse racing, surf fishing and was a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. 

George is survived by his beloved wife of almost 67 years, Elizabeth (Doman) Brittingham; his daughter, Sharron Brittingham (Patrick Mitchell) and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, Gary Brittingham; his sisters, Elizabeth Sinex and Margaret Wells; and his brother, J. William Brittingham.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Friday, March 26, 2021, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends can visit beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be held in Gracelawn Memorial Park. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, 1901 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
