Gabriel Debartolomeis passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose kind heart and deep love for family will be remembered always.
Gabe spent his career with Cedar Tree Press, Harlan Davis, and Bancroft Construction Co., earning the respect of colleagues and the friendship of many. He was a passionate fan of the New York Yankees and Giants, loved attending antique car shows, and found great joy in cheering on his grandchildren at their soccer, basketball, baseball, and football games.
Above all, Gabe’s life was one built around his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Hedwig, with whom he shared a lifetime of love. He leaves behind his children: Tabitha Adams (Dana), Sue Broccoli (Tom), and Stanley Szczepanek (Noelle); his grandchildren: Kim Hoyle (Jeff), Steven Adams (Allison), Matt Broccoli, Justin Broccoli, Tyler Broccoli, and Logan Szczepanek; and four great-grandchildren: Becca, Cameron, Ava, and Wren. He is also survived by his sister, Geryl Riley, several nieces, and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Russell and Gabriel Debartolomeis Sr.
Gabe’s legacy lives on through the generations of family he nurtured and cherished. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love remains ever present.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, June 6th, 2025 from 10AM-11AM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Ave., Wilmington, DE 19806. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11AM. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
