Frank T. Wharton, Jr.

Frank T. Wharton, Jr., lovingly known as Champ, age 64, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Wilmington, DE, Frank is the son of Catherine L. (Mazzani) and the late Frank T. Wharton. He graduated from St. Mark’s High School Class of 1975, where he was proud to be part of the State Championship football team. Frank graduated from the University of Delaware in 1979 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Through the years, he worked in the banking and business industries. More recently, he enjoyed working as a clerk at Wegmans Hardware for the past five years.

Frank loved his family. He was a devoted son, loving brother and doting uncle. Frank had a good heart and was loved by all who knew him. He was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan and enjoyed spending time at the beach.

Frank was predeceased by the love of his life, Susan Cullen, and his father, Frank T. Wharton. He is survived by his mother, Catherine L. (Mazzani) Wharton; his sister, Brandi Jacqueline Hancher and her husband, David; his nieces, Alex and Gabi Hancher; his nephew, Zach Hancher; as well as many extended family and friends.

Family and friends may visit beginning at 2 PM on Friday, May 7 at Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Ave., Wilmington, DE 19806, where a Celebration of Frank’s Life will begin at 3 PM. Interment will be private.
