Francis “Frank” Gillespie, age 78, of West Grove, PA, formerly of Newark, DE and Belfast, Northern Ireland, passed away on Sunday, April 20th, 2025.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Frank was an avid supporter of all of the activities of his children, including Irish dancing and soccer. Frank greatly enjoyed soccer, most notably Manchester United, and whatever team his son was playing for. He also dedicated his time and talents to facilitating the Delaware Feis as the Director for many years. Most of all, Frank simply enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Frank served as a Logistics Manager at Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies for 33 years. He retired in 2010 and still cherished the lasting memories and relationships he cultivated during his time there.
Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Jacqueline “Jacki” Ann Gillespie, in October of 2022. He is survived by his daughter, Ruth Wasilefski, and her husband, Brian, of Palmyra, PA; his son, Brian Gillespie, and his wife, Lauren; his grandchildren, Evan, Owen, Nolan and Emma; and his sister, Iris Gillespie.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 from 12:30PM-1:30PM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A memorial service will begin at 1:30PM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
