Frances DeSales (Lavin) O'Haire

Frances DeSales “Sally” Lavin O’Haire, age 88, of Hockessin, DE passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. 

She was born in Swoyersville, PA, the ninth child of the late Dr. John Lavin and Catherine Delehunt Lavin.

Sally graduated from Misericordia University, receiving a degree in education and later received her Masters Degree. She was a first grade teacher for many years at St. John the Beloved School, Baltz Elementary and was Principal at Holy Spirit School for two years. Sally was a member of the Delta Kappa Gama Society and the Irish Culture Club of Delaware.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Joseph O’Haire, Jr.; brothers, Father John Lavin, James Lavin, Bernard Lavin, Thomas Lavin, Morgan Lavin; and sisters, Mary Kulina, Catherine Hawk and Patricia Michael.

Surviving are her children, James Joseph O’Haire III (Amy), Colleen Huffman (Brad), Kathy O’Haire, Nancy O’Haire; her grandchildren, Patrick O’Haire, Regan Huffman, Shamus O’Haire, Peyton O’Haire, Avery O’Haire, Nicholas O’Haire and Joseph O’Haire; her great-grandchild, Savannah O’Haire; and her remaining sibling, Hilda Lavin.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:30am. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
