Florence D'Onofrio Vari, age 100, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
She was born and grew up on Franklin Street in Wilmington, daughter of Italian immigrant parents, the late Rocco and Angelina (Dercola) D’Onofrio.
Florence was married for 76 years to Joseph F. Vari, Sr., who passed last year at the age of 100.
She is survived by her children: Joseph, Jr. and Rosemary; five grandchildren, T.J. and Jeff Vari; Michael and Stephen Rogers and Tina Riley; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
Florence was the first person in Delaware to be diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She was 28 at the time and her doctors told her she would not live past 60 years of age. Her family feels blessed to have her as long as they did.
Services for Florence will be held privately with her family.
