Eric James DiZio, age 31, of Newark, Delaware, passed away on July 8, 2025. Born on September 2, 1993, to David and Barbara DiZio (née Hand), Eric was the youngest of three siblings.
Eric attended Thomas McKean High School and Delaware Technical Community College. Known for his strong work ethic, practical common sense, and mechanical aptitude, Eric was respected by all who knew him. He worked in the food service industry and had recently earned a management position—a milestone he was proud to achieve.
Outside of work, Eric enjoyed making music, skateboarding, staying active, and following baseball.
Eric was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Barbara DiZio (née Hand); his oldest brother, Shawn DiZio; his paternal grandparents, Michael and Geraldine DiZio; and his maternal grandfather, James Hand.
He is survived by his father, David DiZio; his brother, Kyle DiZio; and his maternal grandmother, Lorraine Hand. Eric also leaves behind a large circle of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends.
Eric’s memorial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of both Eric and his late mother, Barbara, whom he loved deeply.
