Emma Marie McDermott Prinski (71) peacefully entered her eternal rest on February 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She lived a life rooted in love, loyalty, and faith.
Emma found happiness in the simplicity of a cold Diet Pepsi, her love for shopping, and the warmth of being surrounded by those she cherished most. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will be felt in each memory shared.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Raymond Paul Prinski (73), who was by her side through each and every obstacle and season of her life. Their love story began almost instantly; Raymond proposed just 11 days after they met, opening the door to a life that would carry them through more than five decades together.
She was a proud and loving mother to Brian Prinski, Jennifer Prinski Bowles, and Jason Prinski. Their presence eased her final months, reflecting the love that she once provided throughout their lives. Her love will remain in their hearts forever.
She also cherished her niece, Mary McDermott Russell, who became like a second daughter in Emma’s life.
Emma’s love extended to her grandchildren: Elizabeth, Carson, Emerson, Quinn, Lilly, and Owen. She poured into them with the same love, joy, and faith that defined who she was.
Emma was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on June 2, 1954. She committed the early years of her life to raising her family with love and attentiveness before beginning her professional career with the New Castle County Assessment Department, where she applied the same commitment and integrity that guided her at home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. George McDermott and Genevieve McDermott, and by her siblings Jack McDermott, Kathy Sheppard, Mary Johnson, and Betty Mulrine—all of whom remained close to her heart throughout her life.
