Emily Quill, age 75, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026. Born on August 4, 1950, in Wilmington, Delaware, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Quill.
Emily was a devoted mother, grandmother, foster parent, educator, business owner, and friend whose life was defined by compassion, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to the care of children. Throughout her lifetime, she dedicated herself to nurturing, teaching, and supporting countless young people. As a teacher, small business owner, and foster parent, Emily opened both her heart and her home to those in need. She cared for every child entrusted to her as though they were her own, leaving a lasting impact on generations of families.
Above all else, Emily's greatest pride and joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Michael III (Kirsten), Amy (Leif), Melissa, Jodie, Mikhael, and Zaquan; Nana to her cherished grandchildren, Austin, Alyssa, Emma, Michael IV, Sebastian, Henry, and Apollo; her former husband and lifelong friend, Michael Jr.; her siblings, Joseph, MJ, Richard, Robert, Rose (Richard), sister-in-law, JoAnn, and countless relatives and friends whose lives were enriched by her love, guidance, and kindness.
In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her brother, Benjamin Quill.
Emily will be remembered for her strength, selflessness, warm spirit, and the unconditional love she gave to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the family she treasured so deeply.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, Delaware 19808. Burial will be private.
