Emily Susan Bent

Emily Susan Bent, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2021, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief bout with cancer.

Susan was born in London, England to the late Franklin N. and Mary Elizabeth Bent. She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Blackburn (Robert), Janet Bent; her brother, Peter Bent (Cynthia); her nieces, Jesse Blackburn and Suzanne Meyers (Dustin); and nephews, Dan Blackburn (Kim), and Matthew Alphin.

Upon returning from London to the United States, the family settled in Greenville, DE. Susan attended Wilmington Friends School, and graduated from Alexis I. DuPont High School. She loved music and played the piano and bass fiddle. She also enjoyed reading, politics, and discussing current events.

Susan left Delaware to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia, which was the alma mater of her late mother. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in German, and made Columbia, MO her permanent home. Susan was employed by the University of Missouri, where she worked for entire career. She recently retired a few years ago. Susan will be deeply missed by all.
