Emilia R. "Midge" Battaglia, age 88, wife of the late Francis V. Battaglia, Sr., passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025. She was born on September 4, 1936 in Wilmington, DE to the late Leon and Emilia (Jablonski) Kwiatkowski.
Emilia was the owner/operator of the former Long’s Café. She loved animals and was an avid bird watcher.
Emilia was a devout Christian, attending services at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Wilmington, DE and the Catalyst Community Church in Newport, DE. Emilia prayed often and was dedicated to praying the rosary. Emilia will be most remembered as a loving and devoted Mother.
She is survived by her son Francis V. Battaglia, Jr. of Wilmington, DE and daughter Carolyn A. Battaglia of Wilmington, DE. In addition to her late husband, Emilia was preceded in death by her sister Carolyn Kwiatkowski and son-in-law James Walsh.
Family and friends are invited to visit the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808 on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM with funeral services beginning at 12:00PM. Entombment will be held in Cathedral Cemetery.
Emilia’s family would like to extend special thanks to the nursing staff at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE for their utmost care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catalyst Community Church, 410 Denver Rd., Wilmington, DE 19804.
