Elizabeth Ann (Spoerl) Seery

Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Seery, age 88, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

She was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Carl and Katherine (Douglas) Spoerl; was a graduate of Wilmington High School and Goldey-Beacom College; and in addition to raising her family, she worked in customer service at DuPont for over 40 years.

Libby enjoyed reading, completing puzzles; watching game shows and soap operas; scrapbooking; and taking family trips to Rehoboth Beach. Above all else, she cherished the time that she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane Kelly (Matt), Evelyn Johnson (Kerry), and Janet Bonjo (Tim); her grandchildren, Stephanie Smeltzer (Justin), Chas O’Connor (Brittany), Matthew Kelly (Stephanie), Adam Johnson, Amie Wright (Mike), Katie Koernig (Tanner Frye), and Dan Koernig; her great-grandchildren, Grace and Justin Smeltzer, Naomi and Scarlet O’Connor, Sophia and Madeline Kelly, Audrey and Hannah Wright, Arya Smith-Johnson, and Julian Frye; as well as several members of her extended family.

In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her siblings, Rose Springer, Marion Biddle (Bill), Alice Fleming (Bill), Margaret Dorsey (Ed), Kathryn Rossi (Pat), George Spoerl, and Buddy Spoerl (Bobbie).

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 10:30am – 11:30am, concluding with a family-led remembrance service.
