Elena (Travaglini) Giordano

Elena (Travaglini) Giordano, age 79 of Kennett Square, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

She was born in Casoli, Italy and immigrated to the United States as a teenager. A few years later, she met and married Domenic Giordano and they started their family together. Lena was the pillar for her family and the drive for their professional ambitions. It was in 1980 when Lena and Domenic opened Giordano’s Pizza Shop; and in 1993, Giordano’s Restaurant Bar & Grill was established, adding a sports bar in 1999. Over the course of several years, Lena and Domenic’s hard work and dedication afforded their family a long run of sustained success and a sense of pride within the community. In her free time, naturally, she enjoyed cooking for and taking care of her family and friends; and she especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Lena is survived by her sons, Domenic Jr. (Barbara), John (Joell), and Frank (Tara) Giordano; her grandchildren, Gabriella Wilson (Patrick), Sophia Pollinger (Francis), Andrea, Domenic III, Amelia, Mason, Kendall, John Anthony, and Ava Giordano; her great-grandson, James Wilson; and her siblings, Domenic Travaglini (Rose, deceased), and Gina DeFrancesco (Donato, deceased).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Domenic Sr., with whom she shared 44 years of marriage until his death in 2005.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held in Cathedral Cemetery.
