Dr. William E. Jordan

Dr. William E. Jordan, 90, of Wilmington, DE, passed away March 20, 2023. Born to parents, Edward and Lottie (Stawicki) Jordan, in a Great Depression Era Wilmington, William learned to work hard.  After high school he graduated from the University of Delaware in three years before going on to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry for another four. Dr. Jordan quickly became a well-known and well-loved local optometrist; he practiced for 42 years before retiring in 1996. He belonged to both the Delaware Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association for many years.

At an early age, William married the love of his life, Phyllis (Walsh), in the summer of 1954, and they have been together ever since, just shy of 70 years!  They had three children, but their first, Christopher Jordan, passed at birth. 

William is survived by his wife, Phyllis and his other two children, Bradley John Jordan and Robin Anne Thompson; his grandson, Jessie (Brianna) Thompson; and three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter, and Brynlee.

William enjoyed anything that flew, floated or could do a burnout!! He also loved to travel, he and Phyllis traveled extensively.

Services for Dr. Jordan will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Saint John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808.  A Viewing will begin at 10:00 am and a Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11:00 am. He will then be laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808
