Douglas R. Collender, 68, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020.
He was born in Queens, NY, son of the late Stanley and RoseMarie (Gerig) Collender, and was a 1970 graduate of Dickinson High School. He attended the University of Delaware and Delaware Technical Community College, and enjoyed a 40-plus year career with Sportech, Inc, as a computer programmer.
Doug enjoyed boating, deep-sea fishing, hunting and taking trips to the beach, both in Delaware and in Aruba. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Furman) Collender; his step mother Kathy (Collender); his siblings, Gail Burns, Mark Collender (Laurie), and Stacie Larkin (Roger); his step-son, Michael Arvey (Heather); grandchildren, Andrew and Tyler Arvey; his nieces and nephews, Kelly, Krista, Jessica (Chris), Taylor (Norman), Katie, and Sara; and his great-nieces and nephews, Xander, Cheyenne, Carter, and Bradley.
A celebration of life for Doug will be held at a later date.
