Dorothy Ann Brodley, age 79, passed away on October 14, 2025. She was born March 10, 1946, in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late John M. Brodley and Elizabeth Haberstick Brodley.
Dorothy spent her working years supporting the needs of troubled kids. She was a staff supervisor at Terry Children’s Psychiatric Center, a program that was pioneering new approaches for working with children’s mental health. She was a rock for her friends and family: a fiercely loyal aunt who helped raise her three nieces. She attended every game, performance, and field trip that she could. After retiring, she enjoyed watching the next generation of nieces and nephews grow up. She will always be remembered for her hatred of mice and her love of Snoopy, dark chocolate, and beach trips.
Dorothy is survived by her loving extended family: Heather Nourie, Amy, Madeline, and Walter Holt, Sarah, Arianna, Josalyn, and Dylan Rose.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings; Phyllis Joan Sherwood, John Brodley Jr., and Martha Nourie; and her nephews, Clarence William “Billy” DuBois, John “Jackie” Smith, and Thomas Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on March 10, 2026 at the Doherty Funeral, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE, where family and friends may visit beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be held in St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery in Newport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
