Donald A. Franklin, Sr. “Don”, age 80, of Middletown, DE, formerly of Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Don attended Eddystone High School in PA. For 27 years, Don served the City of Chester as a police officer. He ended his career as a police inspector in 1993. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Fraternal Order of Police. Don was an avid boater, fisherman, and hunter. He was also a classic car enthusiast.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley (Quattro) Franklin of Middletown, DE; his son, Brian Franklin and wife, Lauren of Wilmington, DE; sister-in-law, Helen Franklin of Newark, DE along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Alfred Franklin and Ruth (Sutter) Franklin; his son, Donald A. Franklin, Jr.; and brother, Charles E. Franklin, Sr.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Tuesday, April 27 from 9:30-11:00AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, immediately followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
