Dominick George Czerwinski, age 72, died at home on May 10, 2021 surrounded by his family.
The son of the late Dominick Adam Czerwinski and Sophie F. (Dziegielweski) Czerwinski, Nicky was born on February 22, 1949 in Wilmington. He grew up in Wilmington’s Hedgeville neighborhood and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army, 1st Calvary Division in Vietnam, and was a Bronze Star Medal recipient.
Nicky was endlessly proud of his Polish heritage. A long-time member of Pulaski Legion, he served several roles over the years, including club historian. One of his favorite pastimes was playing shuffleboard at the club. Nicky was always the life of party, had a sensational sense of humor, and always knew how to make you laugh. To know Nicky was to love him. He was the best son, husband, father, brother, Dzia Dzia, uncle, and friend that you would ever know. He’ll be forever missed by so many.
Nicky was predeceased by his mother and father, sister Margaret Burg, brother Joseph, sister-in-law Flick (Wooters) Czerwinski, and in-laws William McGough and Ann (Wilde) McGough.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 42 years, Christine (McGough) Czerwinski; sons Adam (wife Laura) and Michael (wife Sabrina); grandchildren Leanna, Justin, Chase and soon to be arriving Nathan; and beloved twin brother George. Nicky also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and so many dear friends.
Visitation will be held at St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington on Friday, May 14 from 10:30-11:45AM, followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00PM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Nicky may be made to the Helen F.
