Dominic Sansone Jr., 84, of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026. Born in Wilmington on December 8, 1941, he was the son of the late Dominic and Edith (Amindo) Sansone.
Dominic was a graduate of Wilmington High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1964. Dominic, affectionately known as pop, was a devoted husband, father and proud grandfather, he treasured time with his family and the memories they created together. Dominic was a member of St. John the Beloved Parish. He worked for the DuPont Company as an electrician for more than 20 years. Following his career at DuPont, Dominic was employed with the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales in Wilmington. Dominic was an avid sports fan. He especially loved baseball and remained a passionate supporter of all Philadelphia teams.
Dominic will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Concetta (Torri) Sansone; his children, Diana (Sansone) Huber and husband, Jerry, Nicholas Sansone and wife, Sophia; his grandchildren, Joseph and Abigail Huber, Nicholas, Matthew and Tyler Sansone. He was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence Sansone.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, June 29 from 5:00 – 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Tuesday, June 30 at 2:00PM. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dominic may be made to Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia Foundation, 609 S. Convent Road, Aston, PA 19014.
