Dolores “Dee” (Masiello) Lento, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
She was born in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Bennett) Masiello. As a young child, Dee enjoyed summer visits to her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in Laurel, DE. She loved living in Wilmington and attended PS DuPont High School and then Goldey-Beacom Business School. Dee worked at Braunstein’s while modeling at the same time. She then went on to work at Wilmington Trust and later Delmarva Power, where she met and married the love of her life, John “Sonny” Lento. They were happily married for 58 years before his passing in 2015. After raising her 4 children, she went to work at Bank of Delaware until retiring in 1990. She missed interacting with the public and went back to work part-time for Dr. Malek and Dr. Chang.
Dee was happiest with family and friends, and she loved to make people laugh. She also enjoyed dancing, going out to dinner, taking trips to Atlantic City, and reading.
She was a fighter; having beat breast cancer, kidney cancer, and a brain tumor. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dick Masiello.
Dee is survived by her very close friend and caregiver, Paula Riley; her children, Michael Lento (Lisa), Christopher Lento (Tammy), Kim Sullivan (Terry), and Johna Lento; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held in All Saints Cemetery.
