Dolores F. (Radka) Feeney passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the age of 100 surrounded by her family. Dolores was an extraordinary woman, known for her exceedingly sweet disposition, her friendliness, and her intense interest in the well-being of others.
Dolores was born in Wilmington on May 7, 1925, the daughter of the late Leon and Stella (Trzuszkowski) Radka. Raised in the Hedgeville section of Wilmington, she attended St. Hedwig’s Grade School and Wilmington High School. After school, she worked in retail sales at Kennards Department Store in downtown Wilmington and later, found employment as a bank teller. It was then that she met the love of her life, John “Jack” Feeney, whom she married on November 20, 1948. Jack and Dolores immediately started a family and bought one of the first homes in Kiamensi Gardens, where she lived until recently. Her husband and her three daughters were the center of Dolores’ universe, and she devoted herself to providing a happy and loving home. Once her children were raised, she took a job as a school bus driver for Davis Bus Company, where she worked until the early 1990s. Dolores enjoyed driving the bus, the flexibility of her schedule, and the opportunity it gave her to meet and talk with new people. She was a consummate “people person.” After retiring, Dolores took several cross-country road trips with Jack, dedicated time to her family, and enjoyed bus trips, beach getaways, and spending time with her friends at the Women’s Club of Delaware.
In addition to her parents, Dolores is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Jack Feeney; her son-in-law, Christopher “CL” Lynch; her brothers, John Radka and Gene Radka; and her sister, Irene Annone.
Dolores is survived by her daughters, Sharon K. Feeney, Patti Feeney-Lynch, and Maureen Feeney Roser (Gary); her grandchildren, Christopher “CJ” Mulkins (Bryan Andriano), Kevin “KJ” Mulkins (Elyse), Jaci Kitchens (Bruce), and Tara Lynch; her great grandchildren, Jordan, Adrian and Cameron Kitchens, Sloane, Morgan and Aidan Mulkins. In addition, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Gloria Radka; several nieces, nephews and their families, as well as many dear friends.
Dolores’ life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin at noon on Monday, June 9, 2025. Entombment will be in Cathedral Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be held prior to Mass at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek from 9:30 – 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with her great love for children, donations in memory of Dolores may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Delaware, 1901 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 (www.rmhcdelaware.org).
