Diane Helms Murray, age 77, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1948, Diane earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Goldey Beacom College. She began her career as a secretary with the Bank of Delaware before joining the University of Delaware, where she worked for more than 30 years in a variety of roles, including administrative assistant, secretary, and accountant. She spent much of her career with the Center for Drug and Health Studies.
While Diane was devoted to her career, her greatest passion was caring for animals—especially cats. Anyone who knew Diane knew of her tremendous love for felines. During her working years and following her retirement, she volunteered with Forgotten Cats, helping care for and find homes for hundreds of neglected and abandoned cats.
Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Nelson Blair Murray, in 2023.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Wachowski and her husband, Jason; her son, Blair T. Murray and his wife, Sharon; and her grandsons, J.B. Wachowski and Thomas Murray.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, where a memorial service will be held immediately following. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Diane's memory to Forgotten Cats, 4023 Kennett Pike, Suite 422, Greenville, DE 19807.
