David Kohn Obituary

David R. Kohn, aged 90, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14th, 2024 with his loved ones by his side. Born on November 12th, 1933, in Philadelphia, PA, David led a life marked by steadfast faith, commitment to his family, and service to his country and community.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bernice (Wade) Kohn; daughters, Patti Bescript (Steve) and Nancy Buchberger (Dieter); granddaughters, Halee Bescript and Hannah Bescript; and brother, Ed Kohn (Joan); and many nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Mary (Clarkson) Kohn; his brothers, George Kohn and Jack Kohn; and his sister, Mary (Kohn) Young.

David served with distinction in the U.S. Air Force from December 1952 until September 1956, embodying the values of duty and honor. He was a graduate of LaSalle University and had a career in Human Resources at DuPont Co that spanned over three decades, after which he continued to contribute to the workforce as a security guard at MBNA (Bank of America) until his retirement at age 84.

David was also dedicated to his Catholic faith. He attended mass regularly and was a part of the Knights of Columbus. He was also involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. John/Holy Angels Catholic parish.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in David's memory on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic Church, 10 Old Church Rd., Greenville, DE 19807. Burial will be held privately for the family at a later date.
