David Christopher Allen

David C. Allen of Wilmington, DE, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on November 10, 2023.  His beloved wife, Carolyn, and devoted doxies, Velvet and Pepper, were by his side.

Dave was born February 7, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA, to Richard and Grace Allen and grew up in Ridgewood NJ.  He was a graduate of Tufts University (BS in chemical engineering) and received his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  He spent the majority of his career with the DuPont Company.  After early retirement, he worked at Dale Carnegie Leadership Training and JA of Delaware.

Dave enjoyed sailing, home improvement projects, woodworking, fine dining and traveling.  He volunteered with several local organizations during his lifetime.   His faith was nurtured at Limestone Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Chris (Mai), Peter (Beth) and Stephen (Kathleen) and daughter, Perry (John); along with his grandchildren, Rachel (Aziz), Jack, Cooper, Frederick (Nan) and Daniel; and his brother, Leonard (Meredeth).  He also leaves to cherish his memory, his sister-in-law, Nancy Szymanski; and her children, Scott (Junko) and Michelle.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Limestone Presbyterian Church, 3201 Limestone Road, Wilmington DE 19808.
