Colomba Cafini Obituary

Colomba (Rendina) Cafini, 91, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021.  She was born in Pescara Del Tronto, Italy on November 13, 1929 to the late Gioacchino and Albina (Piciacchia) Rendina and, with her husband and daughters, came to the United States in 1965, making Wilmington, Delaware their home.

Colomba was employed with Pala’s Café on Union Street and retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service.  A devout Catholic, she prayed the rosary daily and was a long time, faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish.  Throughout her retirement, Colomba volunteered at St. Anthony’s Grade School and the annual Italian Festival, as well as the monthly spaghetti dinners, with her husband, at the Knights of Columbus St. Pius X Council headquarters.

As a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Colomba enjoyed holiday gatherings, and her family always looked forward to her delicious, traditional Italian dishes.

Her husband of 62 years, Mario, passed away on October 20, 2016.  She was also predeceased by her sister, Vincenza Cafini.

Colomba is survived by her daughters, China Tassone and her husband, Corrado, Albina Riley and her  husband, Tom; her beloved grandchildren, Francesca Scarpato (Nick), Angela Charles, Teresa Alfieri, Danielle Burket (Joe), and Thomas Riley (Kim-Marie); seven adoring great grandchildren; a step great grandson.  She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Alberico Cafini of Townsend, DE and Angelo Cafini (Mirella) of Rome, Italy; as well as several loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
