Chistine Maier Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Christine, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished Nana, at the age of 81, on Sunday, July 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She faced her illness with remarkable strength, resilience, and grace, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Born in Bellshill, Scotland, she immigrated to the United States with her family as a child, where she built a beautiful life centered on love, family, and lasting friendships. She was the devoted wife of the late Edward Maier for 52 wonderful years, sharing a lifetime of unwavering love, partnership, and cherished memories. Together they raised their beloved daughter, Heather, who was the pride and joy of her life. She retired after a dedicated career as a secretary with DuPont, but the role she treasured above all others was being "Nana." Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time doting on her four grandsons and her precious great-granddaughter. Her unconditional love, gentle guidance, and endless support created memories they will carry with them forever. She found joy in life's simple pleasures - gathering with family, enjoying trips to the casino, relaxing at her beloved beach house in South Carolina, and sharing laughter with the many lifelong friends she held so dear. Her warm heart, kind spirit, and generous nature touched countless lives, and she had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Heather Williamson (Jason Boyer); cherished grandsons, Grant Maier (Stephanie Gonzalez), Chase, Nicholas, and Anthony Williamson; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Kylie, as well as a loving extended family in Scotland. Christine was predeceased by her devoting husband of 52 years, Edward Maier; her cherished parents, Christine and James Skelton; and her dear brother, Thomas Skelton.

Though our hearts are broken as we bid farewell to Christine, we celebrate a life well-lived and take comfort in knowing her love will continue to live on in the lives she touched and in the countless memories we will forever hold close. Her tenacity, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family will remain her enduring legacy. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Delaware Hospice in memory of Christine Maier. https://delawarehospice.org/general-donation/

May she rest in eternal peace, her memory a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.
