Chester Clark, Jr. Obituary

Chester Arthur Clark, Jr., 98, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021.  Born in Key West, Florida on December 29, 1922, he was a son of the late Chester A., Sr. and Florence (Bethel) Clark.

A veteran of the United States Navy, Arthur proudly served our country during World War II.  When he left the Service he married his wife Roselyn on May 1, 1946 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  While there, Arthur attended and graduated from the University of Chattanooga. After graduation, they began their career with the DuPont Company at the Savannah River Plant in Augusta, Georgia.  In 1960 they relocated to Wilmington to continue their employment with DuPont until their retirement in 1985.  While at DuPont, Arthur was very active in the Junior Achievement Program.

Arthur was a jazz enthusiast and was a fan of music from revivalist bands around the country, including Tex Wyndham and his Red Lion Jazz Band here in Wilmington.  He took great pride in the appearance of his home and yard, and also enjoyed bird watching.  In their early years, he and Roselyn enjoyed boating.

Arthur was predeceased by his beloved wife, Roselyn (Saunders) Clark, who passed away on January 25, 2016.  In addition, he was predeceased by his brothers, Charles Y. Clark and George Clark; his sister, Ida Lillian Young.

Arthur is survived by his sister, Judy A. Easterly as well as his nieces, who were like his own children, Nancy Shoupe of Laurel, MD, Brenda Oleyar of Springfield, VA and Carolyn Pirkey of Grottoes, VA.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
