Charlotte Wallace Obituary

Charlotte Jones Wallace, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 2, 1943, in Wilmington, Delaware, Charlotte brought kindness, wisdom, and warmth to everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman H. Wallace, Sr., her partner in life and love for nearly 47 years. Charlotte and Norman were married on June 4, 1966, and shared a beautiful life together until his passing on February 11, 2013. Together, they created a family full of joy and strong bonds that will carry on their legacy.

A passionate educator, Charlotte earned her master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Delaware, a testament to her commitment to learning and teaching. She spent most of her career shaping young minds as a fourth-grade teacher at The Independence School. She retired from there in June of 2000, leaving behind not only fond memories for her students but also a legacy of compassion and learning that touched countless lives.

Charlotte found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was rarely without a good book in hand or a crossword puzzle to solve. In her younger years, the beach was her sanctuary. She loved sitting on the sand listening to the waves breaking, always with a book in hand.

More than anything, Charlotte’s greatest passion was her family. She was the glue that held generations together, always organizing gatherings that brought cousins, aunts, and uncles closer. Her home and her heart were always open, and her love for her family was limitless.

Charlotte is survived by her two loving sons, Charles N. Wallace and Norman H. Wallace, Jr., her daughter-in-law Assunta M. Wallace, her two beloved grandchildren, Christopher A. Wallace (18) and Shannon E. Wallace (15), her cherished sister Louise Holsten, and countless friends and family members who will mourn her passing.

Affectionately known as "Aunt Char" by her extended family, she will be remembered for her strong spirit, her sense of humor, and the deep love she gave to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
