Charles "Chip" William Carpenter, Jr.

Charles William Carpenter, Jr. “Chip”, age 72, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Christiana Hospital. 

He was born in Wilmington, son of the late Charles and Janet (Morrow) Carpenter; was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and the University of Delaware; and enjoyed a long career as an insurance adjuster. 

Chip had a passion for cooking and history and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Liz (Reilly) Carpenter; his children, Ryan Lloyd (Tim), and Chuck “CW” Carpenter (Danielle); his granddaughter and grandson; his siblings, Carol Huffman and Bob Carpenter; his granddogs, Peanut and Piper; as well as several members of his extended family. 

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, June 29, 2026 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held in Silverbrook Cemetery.
