Charles F. Tomczak, age 85, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, after courageously living with Parkinson's disease for many years. Born on March 6, 1940 in Wilmington, Delaware, Charlie was cherished and loved as a husband, father, father-in-law, “Pop-Pop,” and friend.
Charlie grew up in Wilmington where he attended St. Hedwig's Church and school. While at Conrad High School, Charlie met the love of his life Eleanor, whom he married in 1963. He served in the U.S. Air Force National Guard. Employed at Dupont's Chambers Works for over 44 years, “Tomcat” was a well liked and highly respected electrician responsible for maintaining the site train locomotives.
Charlie and Eleanor raised three children with whom they shared their love of camping and traveling. He was a loving, kind and generous man who will be deeply missed by his wife, children and their spouses, sister, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father Charles J. Tomczak, his mother Ann (Radka) Tomczak, and his brother Thomas C. Tomczak. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Eleanor, daughter Denise Gray and husband Mel, son Kenneth Tomczak, daughter Kimberly Serino and husband Chris, sister Mary Ann Hall and husband Gene, sister-in-law Elizabeth Tomczak, six dearly loved grandchildren: Desiree, Dana, Chloe, Michael, Christian and Jacqueline, and a great granddaughter Layla.
