Cecelia C. Jones

Cecelia C. Jones “Ceil”, 94, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2023, surrounded by her family. 

Ceil was born on July 2, 1928 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John Edward Carville and Edna Painter Carville. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. To know her was to love her. 

Throughout her life, Ceil loved spending time reading, painting and volunteering at the St. Barnabas Church, especially in the flower guild. She was a skilled crafter and baker; and everyone's favorite wreath and pie maker. She was also an avid golfer into her early 90s, (frequently hitting the ball further than the men in the family), with memberships at Rehoboth Beach Country Club, Lake Wales (FL), Cavaliers and Delcastle over the years. She was a wonderful storyteller with quick wit and would have any stranger laughing. 

She will be missed dearly by all, but especially her son, Bob and wife Marge; her son-in-law, Curt Bogia; her four grandchildren, Jessica Keating (Mike), Jennifer McCann (Bryan), Courtney Mahon (Joe), and Bobby Bogia(Rachel); and six great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, Ceil was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Robert T. Jones; her beloved daughter, Kimberly J. Bogia; and her sisters and brothers.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at St. Barnabas' Episcopal Church, 2800 Duncan Road Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 11:00am. Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
