Catherine R. Ferguson, affectionately known as Kitty, of Dagsboro, Delaware, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on April 2, 2026, at the age of 97. She was born on February 17, 1929, in Wilmington and she carried the values of her hometown with her throughout her life. She was a longtime resident of the Forty Acres.
Kitty was the beloved wife of the late James Ferguson, with whom she shared a life built on love, commitment, and family. Together they raised a large and loving family that remained the center of her world. She was a devoted mother to Clare Ferguson Clark (Jimmy, Deceased) Mary Jo Ferguson DeCampli and her husband Randy, Jeffry Ferguson, the late Moira Ferguson, Adrian Ferguson Newell and her husband Tommy, and Todd Ferguson and his wife Tina. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in each of her children and the lives they built.
She was a cherished grandmother to Randy DeCampli and his wife Brooke, Mary Kay DeCampli, Diana DeCampli Ruffin and her husband Khali, Leigh Ferguson and her husband Sam Foster, Aimee Newell Zafiratos and her husband Niko, Elyse Ferguson, Herbie Ferguson, and Jack Ferguson. Kitty also delighted in her great-grandchildren, Julian Ruffin and Dominic Ruffin, who brought her much happiness in her later years. Her family will remember her for her steady presence, her loving heart, and the special way she made each person feel.
Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cecilia (Haley) Snyder; her sisters, Margaret Knoll and Mary Marshall; and her brother, John "Jack" Snyder.
Kitty attended Wilmington High School and went on to build a strong work ethic that served her well throughout her career. She was employed in telecommunications with Bell Telephone and later worked with Wilmington Trust Company. In each role, she was respected for her reliability, professionalism, and pleasant manner.
A woman of Catholic faith, Kitty lived her life with kindness, humility, and trust in God. Her faith was an important part of who she was and guided her through both joyful and difficult times. She was a longtime member and volunteer at St. Ann’s Church and school well into her eighties.
Kitty enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life rich and meaningful. She loved going to Delaware Park and looked forward to Friday night movies with her girlfriends sharing lots of laughs.
She passed away in Lewes, Delaware, from natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations of her family. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
