Catherine A. (Lawrie) Tucker

Catherine A. (Lawrie) Tucker, 76, of Seaford, Delaware passed peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.  Born in Salisbury, Maryland and raised in Seaford, she was the daughter of the late David and Violet (Girard) Lawrie. 

Catherine was a graduate of Seaford High School and attended both Stetson University in Florida and Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington.  She was employed as a legal secretary for several law firms in Wilmington before retiring after more than 20 years.  Since living in Seaford, she attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

In her retirement years, Catherine was a dedicated homemaker.  As a devoted wife, mother and grandmother she was happiest spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.  An avid reader, she enjoyed thriller and mystery novels, particularly those by James Patterson, Tom Clancy and Dean Koontz.

Catherine will be dearly missed by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Tucker; her children, Catherine Marie Tucker, Thomas Patrick Tucker and wife, Teresa Ward-Tucker, Edward Walsh Tucker and wife, Jennifer Tucker; her grandchildren, James, David and Jack Petka, Emma, Tom, Eamonn and Kieran Tucker.  She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Kough and husband, Richard, Maxine Hopewell and husband, James.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington on Tuesday, September 28 from 10:00-11:00 AM.  A Catholic Funeral Service will begin at 11:00AM, immediately followed by interment in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
