Carolyn Lorraine (Burns) Stafford

Carolyn L. Stafford, age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

She was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Horace and Evelyn (Owens) Burns; and in addition to raising her family, worked as a secretary for DuPont, for the office of Judge Vincent Poppiti, Rollins, Inc. and Delaware Park.

Carolyn enjoyed maintaining her home, whether gardening or interior decorating; and she loved to shop. She enjoyed socializing with friends and neighbors and above all else, cherished the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Angeline (Alfred), and Sheila Stafford; her grandsons, Alexander Paul and Alfred Paul Angeline; her great-grandson, Ari Angeline; and her sister, Barbara Rutter.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Frederick Burns, and Shirley Robinson.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday December 5, 2025 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held in Silverbrook Cemetery.
